AMALIA
It's the sound of feet skidding over the cobbles that catches Amalia's attention, the would-be thief's relative silence broken as he trips into Remi's trap. Instantly her ears shift into a qilin's, swiveling on her head to search for the source of the sound. Her body follows a second later, turning back, glancing over her shoulder, alarm immediately rising, heartbeat picking up speed. It's a fight or flight response that's been kicked into overdrive since their season of disaster, and Remi will be able to feel her burst of panic through the Attuned bond.
Panic that gives way, abruptly, to surprise.
She doesn't hear the alchemist speak to the young man, though she does see the way the man's hands clench, muscles tensing as though for a fight. Then he relaxes, shrugging and jolting his shoulder away, sulky at being caught in ponderance of the act. To Amalia it all looks like an exchange between acquaintances; she isn't even sure Remi has seen her, and she has no idea what to do. They haven't spoken for over a season, and the gaping time, the loss and anger and grief and changes...
She should have looked for him, instead of just Ronin. But she'd been afraid of what she'd find.
Dumbstruck and silent, Amalia simply stares at Remi, waiting for him to spot her, waiting to meet his seafoam eyes. When she does - if she does - she'll raise up a hand, a small, quiet greeting as she waits for him to take the lead.
