Korbin nodded non-comittally, and continued into the kitchen without showing any further interest in the girl. If she really was Weaver's friend, he'd come across her eventually, and until then he had other things to worry about.

"Belly meat, smoked and dried," he said, tapping a finger at the log-like chunk of meat he had brought along. "It can be eaten as is, if necessary, but it's like chewing leather." Said with the sage wisdom of one who had eaten it like that.
Moving around the room, Korbin found some bowls, a suitable knife, and put the meat in one pot along with a lot of water to let it soak. His hands were deft and quite skilled as he began to process the other ingredients; wild root vegetables, some edible shrubs, berries... the variety wasn't great, as he hadn't touched anything from beyond the borders of Halo.
"Why do you hate Halo?" he asked as he worked, not bothering to wrap the question up in a nicer way. The attitude had been pretty obviouos from the earlier points in their, eh, conversation? but Korbin never heard a reason for it. Leastways none that he cared to accept.
