the resurrected sword
A shrug of his shoulders followed the Sage’s inquiry; he’d never met any sea dragons. The only winged lizards he’d ever come face-to-face with, before here, before ivory ones freezing friends, had been companions – small, light, lissome, fire-breathing. If there’d been any under the waves, he hadn’t noticed them. Perhaps was the only thing he could release on those subject matters, pondering if there were such creatures amongst the deepening fathoms, alongside whales, squid, or if it were another portion of tales, fables, and myths. Maybe he’d glimpsed upon enough to realize it was completely feasible.
He tread water for a little while, listening, then grew slightly restless again, and lingered just below the surface, glancing at the light refracting from above, descending not so far down below, the darkening depths promising mysteries, enigmatic plunges he couldn’t quite make. He missed the sparkle in the Sage’s eye, but upon rising once more for another breath, caught the slide of the pun – features turning into direct nonchalance, an audible groan roaming from his chest. “Awful,” shaking his head, snorting all the while. “What else supposedly lives here?” They’d seen the L’ma, shades of ghostly, phantom-looking whales near Ludo’s makeshift boat recently, and the Hels cawing near shorelines; but what else? He wasn’t thoroughly tempted to hunt down any other creatures for the time being, their latest, treacherous experience fresh in his mind, but inquiry and interest were always at the forefront too – and he presumed the Lorekeeper would have some sort of information already assembled and stashed away.
