With all of her panic and her racing mind, there was something about Amun that still calmed her. He stayed a rock, solid and steady before the woman who, for a moment, felt like she was falling apart. The man had not balked at her once, and instead tried his best to comfort her. Letha looked up at him when he squeezed her shoulder. Although it felt different than before, she calmed some. She took in a shaky breath--habit?--and let it out again. Her body told her it wanted to cry, but she forced it back. Composure was the only way she was going to make it through this, the only way she was going to gain understanding about what had happened to her and who she was to become.

"Thank you." She said quietly, straightening herself up once more. When he asked about her heartbeat, Letha looked back down into her lap. One hand went to her chest and pressed in tight, the other went to her neck, trying to detect the ever-familiar, ever-present beat that pumped life through her.

Nothing.

"No..." She shook her head, voice dropping. "Amun...did I die?"

Where will I find peace other than in oblivion?
