Shattered Windows, Broken Locks

Kalt I say goodbye to my weakness, So long to the regret, and now I see the world through diamond eyes.     There was just a hint of a downturned grin on his face, as she spat the minor threat back to him. Her fire was beyond entertaining to him, and he felt a settling reassurance at seeing it return so quickly after she had been lost in the hell her mind whipped up for her. He took a deep breath, looking over her carefully, observing each of her mannerisms and movements intently, committing them to every just like he did every time he watched her.     They walked back to the bedroom, and the tips of his fingers gently lay over the small of her back, a habitual guidance from years ago that he didn’t seem capable of shaking. He only dropped his touch once they were inside. Kalt closed the door behind them and turned to see her climbing back into the bed. A smirk flickered, and he walked around to the other side and climbed into his bed with her.     His brows raised slightly at her words, while his eyes remained remarkably relaxed, as though he hadn’t fully registered what she was saying. He did, but that wasn’t important right then. ”People?” He said, an undertone of disbelief in his voice. ”Since when have you ever let what people think dictate your decision making, hm?” Certainly not when they were in the Guild! Not very often when he saw her in Northaven! So, when did this bullshit about people’s opinions even begin to creep into her mind?     Kalt rolled over onto his stomach, propping himself up on his elbows with the blanket only pulled up to his waist, exposing the scarred expanse of his back. He looked at her with a half smirk, crystalline eyes fiery with intent and with the reflection of the small flames dancing on candles. A breath escaped him that might have been a scoff, and he raised one brow. ”We’ll just simply have to prove their ideas wrong, yeah?” He asked, smirk never wavering for a moment.     ”We can play games together.” The man slid just barely towards her on the bed, his eyes never leaving hers. ”Could train like we used to in the Guild.” Kalt playfully pulled the sheet up and over his head, so he had to tilt his head back with a gradually widening grin to spy her from underneath the cloth. ”Hells,” he started, his one hand gliding down her arm until it rested over her hip, ”could even finally teach you how to cook. How scandalous!” His hand moved away from her hip then, and he gently touched her cheek as he lowered himself slightly over her, dangerously close to touching with his finger tracing the curve of her bottom lip.     He breathed slowly and smirked, sliding carefully down the bed, his eyes never leaving hers. His fingers slid underneath the fabric of her shirt, touching the warmth of her skin, and he flashed a grin up to her, before bringing his gaze to her body near hungrily, then returning to her eyes. ”Or maybe...” he muttered, ”...we prove them right.” He leaned down, his lips trailing over her bare skin delicately with a grin up at her.
