No, he hadn’t asked her mother. And her lips part to ask why he hadn’t, because surely it made the most sense didn’t it? She was queen of the grounds after all; what else was there for her to do other than give up a piece of her to ensure her land remained safe? Until… until of course Deimos’ words hit her ears and she stills completely — a pulse of rage vibrating from her like a wildfire, extended out toward Deimos unintentionally.
“She told me she couldn’t.” She manages through her grit teeth, frustration and sorrow evident before she shakes her head and her gaze focuses on the rainbow hue of the road. Deimos’ attuned voice is a balm against a pain quite raw, and she turns back with her lip feathering slightly to look at him a bit more fully. “I’m glad.” She hopes he understands what she means to say beneath it, a thank you, but the words are too painful and raw to bring up. She’ll need some time to cool off, and with Deimos there and the opportunity to throw more rocks into the pool? Well, what else was there for her to get her frustrations out of?
She spends the rest of the time between her own milling thoughts with Deimos’ comforting presence until she thinks she can handle herself again, until it’s time to head home once more.
