A bucket just appears and I should be surprised, but ain't. Instead, I peer inside, poking with the shovel at the grey mixture. Oh. It’s like cement. Cool. “Great,” I say, and begin to add a layer of the mixture to the parts of the walls that look the weakest, pausing every now and then to make sure its setting correctly and not dripping on to the floor or hardening in spikes. I continue to work without complaint, hoping that we’re almost done. Without any outside reference, it’s hard to tell how far we’ve come.
