He silently thanks Safrin for the luck of missing those sharp talons – and while the prey within him take over in his attempt to flee from it, causing him to dive and shift back onto the path nearby the chick. And with his panther form now taking the reins, the bird seems to leave him alone. He can still feel it watching, however, and he can hear the chick as it shrieks to its mother, abandoning the nest. And well? What else is there for him to try and do?
He shifts back into himself, though he keeps the panther ears partially shifted, if only to be an attempt to keep the eagle away – reaching for the nest to try and set it out on the edge, surrounded by a few more sections where the bird might not fall out. And he hopes, perhaps, the eagle might find it in her to help guide the chick back. Which leaves him to the rest of his task of disposing of the hopefully empty bird nests among the rest of the debris covering the floor and the roof.
