The night has taken such a bizarre turn, so far removed from how Nate had assumed it would go that he doesn't quite know how to focus on just one thing. Missing shoes and bags, a poe-poe, whatever that was, the fact that there was a stranger in the kitchen.
And the bird. The garishly pink thing that exploded through the window almost as soon as it was opened, and settled on the counter. Nate sucked in a deep breath, eyes focused on Sunjata, his hand moving to clench over his mouth. There didn't need to be any mental link for the message to come through. This is your fault. And it didn't move as the creature took off again, barrelling into Delphine.
The squeal drew Nate's eyes back to her, easy smile back on his face as he looked over the bird she held up. "That's good. One problem already taken care of." The pouch draws his eye though, and he reaches out, mindful of the bird itself. Just because he wouldn't feel it didn't mean he wanted to be pecked. If he could grab it, he'd open it and take a look inside, hoping whatever she had taken looked at least a little bit familiar to him.
