Delphine
It was familiar, being coaxed into saying something, admitting something. She shifted, gaze from the sky to her lap, and after a moment of thought she replied, "They're dead." The words hurt, and she brushes a hand against her eyes, trying not to cry. What had the words her brother used to tell her?
'Nobody likes a crybaby, Tansy.'
She inhaled sharply, and once again moved to stand, fingers twisting into her hair. She'd lost her parents due to things out of her control. Her brother, because she had a husband who did not like being undermined. But she had not had anything to do with those deaths...
But her daughters deaths were on her, and she knew that. Death was something Delphine had understood, as a healer in their homeland; but it was also something she had challenged. She couldn't tell you now, who she had reincarnated back in Northaven, but death... had certainly never seemed real, not when she'd wielded power like that.

Let me make you smile, darling.
