Even when I look away, I’m still looking. He is inside his body, and I am inside my body, and it matters less and less
There's something endearing about watching his companion for the evening drink in everything Haulani has to offer at this late hour. A brow raises as Letha brings up Amun, Nate quietly wondering if he's still being a downer for no apparent reason, though the question, and some of the lightness in his grin, falter when she brings up Sam. How is it the other man keeps coming up? If he were more self aware, he might think it was some kind of karmic punishment, but he wasn't, and didn't. "Lucky you ran into some helpful people straight away, huh?" Nate offers, more to respond than anything else. He'd never been one to let silence settle into a conversation, not if he could help it.

His head does cock as she continues though, a single brow rising in quiet confusion. "If you woke up here, why bother going to the Grounds at all?" Nate had to actually put some effort in to keep his own biases out of his voice, to stay as even as possible. Letha seemed skittish, in a way, and he didn't want to break down a relationship before it even began. Though she seems to have come to the same realization, if her quiet words are any indication. Nate watched the way her gaze dropped, then reached out to set a hand on her shoulder, squeezing it tightly. "Y'know, there's nothing stopping you from setting up here, if you want." He floats the idea past her, a short laugh in his voice when he continues. "Honestly, it's probably safer through Longnight." No reason she needed to be in danger when their Family meeting had fallen through the way it did.
