Sam took a moment to try and center himself before he put down the kettle, managing to place it on the stove with some certainty now, and went to get out the cups. There was something bizarre in the mundane nature of it all but comforting too, a familiarity he needed even if the tea would taste half as strong once it got in his mouth.

As much as a large part of him never wanted to admit to Amalia what had just happened, knowing she had a right to be smug and could well be...she was probably one of the best people to advise him on the next steps to take.
