Loren would have done the same thing, and it was still a miracle he’d gone with her when she’d dragged him out of The Kraai. As much as they did not get along, Korbin and Loren were alike in that. They would give and give until there was nothing left.Her brother is silent for a while, and when he speaks, it is not what she expects. Hadn’t Loren said the same thing, though? It made sense in the context of their conversation though, when she’d outright said she had never wanted to be Warden. Which was true, but how could she back down now? How could she turn her back on Halo and leave the mess to someone else?
”Are you suggesting I should step down?” Her amber eyes meet his, and there is something hard there, something capable. But she is not challenging him, rather asking for the truth. He is suggesting she cannot do this?
