Elias chuckled, leaning to rummage through his pockets. He eventually settled two different pearls on the blanket between them. One was black.
"This pearl," he rolled the black one towards her, "Comes from the black lip oyster. Pinctada margaritifera. These pearls can be larger, because the oyster that grows them can grow to be really large," He gestured with his hands, showing the size-range. "Also different shapes. Teardrops, ovals, and more. Same with colors." He grinned, humming thoughtfully.
"The most important thing to know, is that the oysters have different lip colors, and that helps define the pearls color. But another way that pearls get color is when there's color in the... hmm, it's like a glue, that holds the oyster together. Natural substance." He's probably overloading her with information, and this realization makes him apologize quietly.
