As they started to walk Jigano led them towards the water. "Shall we test the rumors about water-walking birds out for ourselves?" he suggested, hoping to brighten Sam's mood a little. A glance back at the birds and a raised brow had two of the trio flapping up to settle on the men's shoulders, if Sam was willing to give it a try, the birds held in place by the bard's Beastmaster ability.
"An honorable profession," Jigano murmured at hearing that the apple of his friend's eye was a laborer. Perhaps not the most glamorous profession, but Sam deserved stability and reliability, and perhaps this man could provide that.
The uncertainty about being 'liked' had Jigano suppressing a soft sigh as he led the way in stepping into the waves--

"You're still you, Sam," he tried to reassure his friend. "She changed nothing about you that truly matters..." He hesitated, turning to look at his friend with sober concern at Sam's solemnity. Squeezing the other man's hand he nodded. "I promise," he said gently. "What is it, old friend?" There was so much mystery in that request that he couldn't even begin to guess at what was to come, so he composed himself to listen and learn.
