Her hand in his hair, tousled from sleep and being unable to move hardly at all, and he wants to lean into it — but Nate’s words are his own, too. His exhaustion keeps him exactly as before, head on Nate’s shoulder, his hand wrapped around her while his other seeks out a steady tethering bind with Nate.
“We wanted you to stay.” He manages, eyes still closed as if it’s easier to say it while he doesn’t have to look at her. But he does anyway, tired steel eyes searching her pale face, her two toned eyes. “Through LongNight, forever, whatever. But you were gone.” It’s quiet too, but Sunjata has no foot to stand on, nothing like Nate does. The Attuned has burned the Valkyrie before, and his own quiet protests should mean nothing in comparison to the anchored weight of Nate’s accusations.
If anything, Sunjata has done the same to her before.
His gaze tears away then, nestling his head in closer to Nate, hiding away again as he takes a long deep breath.
