If there is one thing that can break through the struggle, that can shine some light into the hole they've been very slowly sinking into, it's Hotaru's barely there whisper, her words. A wide smile, a proper one, maybe the first one in days, pulls across Nate's face, and he has the split second thought to leave it at that, to take this win and bask in it, but he can't. He's never been able to not push for more, to not push for what he wants, and, without even thinking about it, he knows this is something he wants. The both of them, the three of them, together.
Nate doesn't need breath, but that doesn't stop him from holding it, from clutching on to Hotaru's hand, from pulling her closer against him and Sunjata. This is a risk, can so quickly shift the good they've had, and he finds his confidence shaking. What will they do if she says no? What does it mean if she says no?
The Yes! echoes through through him, shutting out every scrap of worry, every whispering voice saying that maybe, he'd pushed too far, he'd made a mistake. In that single, giddy moment, with Hotaru laughing, he turns to press a kiss to Sunjata's cheek, the corner of his mouth. It might be a victory, but it doesn't feel like it. It feels like they're whole, like some missing piece is settling in. His arms grow that much tighter around the two of them, knowing it must still bring a touch a pain, but thinking it's worth it for this moment.

"We can start with the questions whenever you like." Nate murmurs, wrapped up somewhere near Hotaru's shoulder, though he's not willing to pull away and confirm that just yet. Not willing to move out of the warm tangle of limbs, a pile that he's going to get the chance to get used to. What a strange, dizzying thought.
