Ianto did not sign up for this. Sure, he could womble through a dust storm and pretend that he’s interested in whatever the hell lies on the other side, but land sharks? Nah. A thousand times, nah. The problem, of course, is that there’s no way to tell which way is up or down any more, and he can’t see further into the storm or back towards the Greatwood. Ianto is lost, and there’s teeth in a huge mouth beneath them.
So the cardinal pumps his wings to try to climb higher, wondering if he might escape above the dust storm so he can better get his bearings. The rest of the group? Gone, in his mind. What do you expect, inviting a coward along for the ride?
