It is very surreal to watch someone get healed and be totally unable to see anything. It's one thing to witness stitches going in, or a bandage slapped on; it's another to sit there twiddling your thumb while an intimate exchange of magical energy happens between two people, entirely outside of you. All you can do is try to offer a steadying presence, holding on to Sunjata's hand as he slips in and out of consciousness and glancing frequently at Vervain, anxious for information and knowing better than to break her concentration.
You hadn't realized you were holding your breath until she moves and you let it out, relief flooding you all at once. Releasing the 'biter's hand quickly, you run your own fingers through your hair and let out a deep sigh. The motherly kiss she lands on his forehead strikes you right in your emotional core; suddenly feeling very much like an interloper you clear your throat and rise to go fetch water for them both.
One glass goes to the table next to Sunjata; the other one you offer to Vai, leaning down to press a kiss upon her crown. "One'uv your strays, then?" you murmur, rubbing a hand over her back. "He gonna be okay? You okay?"
