It isn't human, and if the Alchemist had to guess, he'd say it was one of the more aquatic-sounding creatures. Certainly not a mammal.
Raising a brow in Ronin's direction and knowing there was no need to say Oh, shall we check that out? he begins to move towards the sound which seems to be coming from a pile of driftwood that the storms have piled up in an aggressive mound on the beach.
