Silence stretches long and loud between the two of them as they work on the wall, uncomfortable even to a woman used to such kinds of discomfort. And she would have said something, but now is not the time; after - yes, after would be good (little does she know…) She whispered back, I am the storm |

They say blood makes you related but loyalty makes you family Chulane would find himself putting the last of the panels up just about the time that Loren and Then he smiled for just a moment. "Thank you, both of you, for the help. I couldn't have done it without you." He glanced at Wessex. "I don't know if Ascended even want or need healing as it's normally provided, but our services are obviously open to you. And I'd welcome any Ascended that might want to study medicine." He didn't feel accomplished. Didn't feel satisfied. Within him, there was nothing but that numbness, that aching, yawning abyss of utter helplessness. He was without direction, without purpose, beyond what he could do as a carpenter for a healing school or a Chief of Agriculture in a frozen landscape. Dark curls bobbed as he nodded silently to Loren's words, his glacial gaze not leaving the frozen ground as he simply made his way back to his house, back to where the little luxere waited for him, his only tether to what he'd lost. it is better to know some of the questions than all of the answers |
