Grinning at Beatleste, Loren nodded. "Okay. But who watches the Warden? And how do you keep war in a den anyway?" That caused his grin to slip away and he began to frown instead.
"Who will be really nice?" Stopping, he started picking at the feathers that had appeared along his arms. "I am an owl?" Glancing up, he followed the finger towards the Academy. "I am an owl!"
And then he shifted into a goose. Breaking into a run, he pumped his wings and took to the sky.

In the real world, he took a few steps, face planted, and rolled over himself a few times. Landing on his back, he flapped and honked but just succeeded in writhing around on the floor.
