The warmth was a balm, and the youth turned her face towards it, closed her eyes into its decadent embrace. Maybe she was home, and in time her feet would settle on sand, would find that item she so desperately craved hidden amongst and amidst the dunes, and everything would be fine. Maybe her sister, her mother, were laden in these dreams too, and the serenity of their kindness, their laughter, would give her strength to persevere.
Maybe this was only a cruel figment of nothing close to reality – and she could only bask in it for so long.
She smelled the sea though, and chased, chased, chased, yearning to be taken, to be snagged by its depths.
