The cook didn't particularly like having landlubbers aboard who'd just get in the way when something inevitably went wrong. Luckily, the Hali had already fed the crew, so was left to his own devices.

A breeze carried the captain's voice to Saiden, although he was careful to keep his back to Jack and his two companions. The cook didn't know how the captain would react to eavesdropping, but he figured he'd rather not find out.
