While Azrael's sudden maturation had been a surprise, Bastien was thrilled to find his child was curious and well spoken, their questions intelligent and interesting. He had dreamed of Azrael being observant of the world around them, wanting to find out and create and question, but had not put too much hope in the idea, aware that they were their own person who could well find interest in other things, such as (perish the thought) sports.
