A rumble vibrates through him as if he’s rolling his eyes at Vai, but he flattens to the ground, large head nudging her into the crook along his spine above his wings. Her ‘shut up’ is met with a glimmer in his steel gaze of pure and utter amusement. He’s not joking, wouldn’t have offered it if it weren’t for some part of him wanting to pay her back for lunch, for caring for him, for all the shit he had pulled while ill.
But she climbs up and once she’s grabbed onto his fins, once he’s sure she’s secure; he rumbles some sound that might appear like some sort of agreement. He’d catch her, absolutely. So he sits up now, moving to stand, tail sweeping along the sand and his wings flaring and stretching, getting a sense of what it was like to have her there whether it would impact him at all. It doesn’t, and he turns out over to the ocean, haunches tensing before he launches them into the sky, low across the water at first just in case she loses her grip.
