He hadn’t realized how much of his mental space weighed on Nate, and part of him is ashamed for it. It isn’t fair, after all.
He looks back at Nate’s face to meet the mismatched gaze and worried brows, his head ducking a bit as his eyes fall, to Nate’s chest if only to avoid the sensation of the thoughts that pass through his mind. A hollow, coldness that seeps into the bond toward Nate, however much he tries to block it out. “It probably is.” He says with some defeat, some frustration at himself for letting it get to him so much that he does pull away fully from Nate now, moving to sink back into the couch with the mess of blankets, reaching up with both hands to rub at his temples. “Means it should end at some point, yeah?” They had only seen Ru once. And since then, well, not again. But Sunjata’s father is a ghost of a memory that keeps coming back again and again.
