Wessex disappears, and though Remi knows he needs to be on the lookout for where she's gone, with a dragon circling and diving above, his attention is necessarily diverted. Loki's energy blast strikes him, not that he's made much of an attempt to move. What Remi thought was going to happen, given it's a tactic he's used himself before, was that the dragon was aiming to herd him into a trap. If he jumped back, surely that would put him right where Wessex wanted him.
Little did he know she'd already done that herself.
Her claws dig into his soft belly, and its more instinct than careful thought that guides what the alchemist does next. Knowing better than to move away for fear of her claws doing even more damage, the Lullaby instead all but falls on top of the Wraith. Attempting to corral her with his paws to keep her close against him, and then spin onto his back, his scorpion tail will try to sting her as he all but cuddles her against him.
