He doesn’t respond immediately to her appreciation for the heads up. She had asked it of him, after all. But he offers her a nod of his head, a quiet ‘you’re welcome’ that’s heard in the silence. As for taking the lead, he does slow his pace just a bit to make it easier for her to catch up. “Wonder if there’s fish in the reservoir?” He murmurs thoughtfully, sure that he and Haai could likely catch something to snack on in the interim.
Her question, however, has him pausing – all the anxiety and frustration of before melding away. “If I had a dollar for every time I heard that I’d be a very rich man.” He says, casting a glance over his shoulder to her with a rogue smirk. “Believe it or not I was fairly average for Korofi standards. Was the tallest in my family, though.” A pause of consideration, head tilting this way and that. “My father was a couple inches shorter than me.” A rise and fall of a shrug with that, before he’s looking ahead toward the streams they come up upon. “If I’m being honest, I’m not sure I know what a… jeeraff…? is.” He pauses just enough for her to come up beside him, casting an expectant glance over her way.
Soon enough, however, the jungle parts for a roaring waterfall – the humidity in the air was palpable, speckling along his freckled face, and he slips closer toward the edge of the pool that the waterfall drops into. Haai is quick to arrive, to inspect it and lap up a fair amount of clean water. Sunjata, on the other hand, crouches by the edge, running his fingers through the cool water with a sigh of relief.
“I’m going to slip in and see if there’s any fish.” He offers to her, flashing her a small smirk, before he’s setting his pack and items down next to a rock where Haai resides, before he becomes his cobra shift and shrinks down. The length of him remains close to the same, though the black snake slips along the rockery, his hooded head peering back at Aurelia briefly, before he slinks into the cool water – relieving his exertion warm body, in search for fish.
