Weak and useless is how Sunjata pictures it, but it’s only because in the face of Remi’s predators, regardless of how many of them lingered under his skin, it was nothing compared to that. Nothing compared to the demi god of death, and it shakes him, brings out everything opposite, realizing immediately to bow to the biggest threat, to not challenge. It hadn’t mattered anyway, though.
His jaw feathers and he withdraws those clawed hands from his face, focusing instead on the cracking flames and the mention of Safrin that has his gut churning over and over again. “Fuck.” He manages, silent for a moment. “You’ll get them back won’t you?” It’s a tentative question, one that he’s not sure he wants to know the answer to.
But his gaze slips back toward Ronin, still dark, still hollow. “I haven’t gone and seen her. I don’t.. know if it’s a good idea. Nate went and saw her.” The words rush out together, as the quiet panic settles in, “he drank from her. He said he felt wrong and left for LongNight. I don’t know what it means.” But it’s clear that’s only added to his distress with everything.
