The stroking fingers in his hair were indeed very good at making Adam relax. With him and Pet, he was usually the one to initiate comforting touch, the one tracing fingers over skin or touching his husbands curls; it was nice to be looked after, even if just in such a small way, for a while. It wouldn't go beyond this; he knew the second anywhere else was touched it went into the realms of betrayal, but just this? He hoped he'd be allowed this.
"Regulars'r good, as long as they don't get too attached." Adam casually observed, thinking back to his own past clients. "You been to any of the parties going on out there then, if you're so slow this week? I've heard they throw some real ragers in Longnight here." Not that he'd actually know, what with his week forcibly having been spent fighting monsters in the dark creepy Labyrinth instead; he wished he could have been sipping a drink on the beach.
He knew he stood out and just laughed when she teased him, shrugging. "One minute I was riding my horse back home, then I was in a bar over here." Sometimes he still thought he might wake up back on that road, have to pick himself back up in his old life where he left off.
As for things being simpler in Torchline, he understood that well. In his world there had been revolutions, wars, none of which he'd taken part in; he favoured his own lifestyle of adventure, various substances to abuse and people to charm. "I get that. Is it good working here? If I didn't have the aforementioned fuckin' and drinkin' problem, I'd consider it." (Adam hoped she wouldn't say he was too old - he still had it, right? Right?)
