Like some child possessed, the beast howls in my veins
Ludo, ever-obliging, swept within on the winds and eaves of the spring morning, and her heart enlightened – the smile musing, massive, and wide. The vibrancy and ebullience was shared, not shattered, and for once she felt like she’d done something right, in the wake of all these other disastrous movements.
A bout of laughter reigned from the movement around her hair, the bone dancing, her clothes maneuvering – and then, within her palms, was no longer the bone. Instead, a charm, leather and string, knotted, gnarled, pinpointed to resemble the artifact in smaller form, pooled along her skin. “Thank you so much,” she whispered, breath loosening from her lungs. Quick, and quicker still, she bobbed away from the shrine, a wave to the intangible elements. “I will!”
And then she left the herald – swift and rapid, combing back through the shallows with her faithful gourd.
