Theo loved crowds, and he loved fights -- watching them, at least; he did not want to actually be in fights, ever. But the crowd drawn for this fight looked ripe for some pickpocketing, and how could Theo refuse such an open invitation?
After he'd worked over the crowd a bit, grabbing several nice trinkets, he decided to change his game. Finding a position near the back of the spectators, he called, "Bets, anyone? Anyone want to make a little wager?"
Of course, Theo didn't plan to be around to pay any wagers he lost -- but if he won, well, wouldn't that just be delightful.
