Not expecting her to shift so quickly, Nate wobbles in the sand, fighting for a moment to keep his balance. If he goes down, he’s not getting up again. Once he’s caught himself, he can focus on the task of connecting the metal pieces together, his hands careful now that they have an injury each.
The silence is broken after Nate slips into an almost trancelike state, his head lifting to look at Aurelia immediately, but her actual words taking far longer to actually reach him.
