MAEVE
The chuckle is warm, running down her spine and curling there. Her eyes flutter closed as Aurelia leans in and she waits for the moment her lips find hers again. She's thought about that kiss more than she would like to admit and she's eager to taste her lips again, but the feeling doesn't come. Instead she's met with the rasp of the paper filter of the cigarette and her eyes open. Disappointment sinks into her belly and she pouts, reaching up to take the cigarette between her fingers, drawing from it slowly only to blow the smoke back out. "You tease me." She accuses, huffing a little as she settles back into her own seat. Then her eyes land back on Aurelia's face and instantly the air changes between them. It feels like the pleasant warmth that surrounded them has been sucked out and replaced with something far colder. Maeve licks her lips nervously, swallowing thickly as Aurelia begins to speak. Each word drops the temperature another degree and she deflates.
Her eyes fill with hurt and her shoulders slump as the light that seemed to play on her face only moments before starts to fade. She swallows thickly, eyes dropping to the table and her almost empty bowl of soup. "I see... A mistake..." It hadn't felt like a mistake. Not to Maeve. Her throat tightens and she feels she might cry. Was this just her lot in life? It seemed that way. She was destined to never be enough. To never be anyone's choice. It hurts more than she wants to admit.
Except Aurelia keeps talking and she's having a hard time making sense of what this means. Of what she's saying. Her brows knit together and her lips press into a thin line as she looks at her. A million different things run through her head all at once. If it was a mistake why was she here? Did she just come here to tell her that and leave? Surely she didn't just want to hurt her needlessly? She didn't seem the type, but... She keeps talking and her thoughts become even more jumbled. He was okay with it? He laughed about it and now she's here.
"You guess...?" Maeve prompts, voice even softer than before as uncertainty colors her words. The thing is, Maeve knows how to share. She would be okay with sharing. Truly. As long as she was wanted to. As long as Aurelia chose her too. She knows it might be silly to think that way, but she just wants something. To not be a girl who is used, but a girl who is wanted for more than what she can give in return for payment. That's all.
So she takes a shaky breath, deciding to be brave, "You guess you want to see what this is..?"
