"A very long day. A few of the girls have caught some sort of bug so we were a little understaffed downstairs. Not to mention that some of the customers are starting to get a little more rowdy. Most of them are planning to push off soon so they're trying to get their fill now." She says with a sigh, adding a few sugar cubes to her tea and a splash of cream, stirring it slowly. Maeve takes a careful sip, eyeing him over the rim of her tea cup. He doesn't often come to just talk. Normally talking happens after. Once they've reacquainted themselves with each others bodies. She doesn't mind it. They're still figuring things out and she's not in a rush. Maeve is pretty sure that he isn't in one either.
The box suddenly appears on the table and her brow lifts as she gentle sets her teacup down in favor of picking up the gift. "Oh? Is something wrong?" It's the first thing that comes to mind. That something bad happened and she doesn't know how that makes her feel as she tries to think through the sudden worry settling in the pit of her stomach. Maeve carefully pulls the ribbon from the box, opening it with care. A soft gasp parts her lips as her eyes land on the dagger. "It's beautiful." Maeve murmurs, carefully removing it from the box and turning it over in her hand. It's light and well balanced. Clearly made with care. Her brows pinch together and she looks up at him, "You know I already have a dagger, though... Do I really need two?"
She huffs out a soft laugh, carefully replacing it back into its box and setting it aside, "It really is beautiful. Truly. Thank you." Maeve reaches over and takes his hand for a moment, giving it a brief squeeze before she draws back. Her hands find her tea again and she brings it up to take another sip.
