The flowers and it's many petals, splaying out to reveal fuzzy yellow anthers and a little green tipped stigma in the middle. It was these bits that smelled the best, Wesley shoved his face into the center of the big flower to inhale the pollen, grin and exhale, watch the yellow pollen float away. When he opened his sea green eyes again, something was coming towards him, crooning and bouncing through the twilit brush.
Wesley gasped, capturing his bottom lip with his teeth to contain the excited squeal. He'd read all about star whales in on the of the books his brother had bought him, this had to be one of them! The starry humpback circled him, mooing and twirling, and Wesley did his best to spin with it. He was too distracted with the starwhale to notice the resting snow leopard on her perch, peering through the burst of colorful flowers.
He reached out with little hands, gentle and hopeful that the whale might accept his touch.
