"I suppose that's half true. I spent most of my time in the army learning how to do this stuff, so by the time I got out I had all the knowledge I needed to start out wherever I wanted," Ronin concedes with a lopsided smile - it's true that they keep finding themselves in these weird oh this is serious talk places, but fuck, at least if they have the conversation once they don't have to do it again. "Oh," he agrees, but with a great deal more warmth in his voice.
"Half live in his shadow, half try to find him, I think?" He furrows his brow. "My family is old school military - someone should always be in the army, or something like that. Since they were paying my tuition, when they told me to bail out I didn't really have a choice." Ronin shrugs. "Fat lot of good that did them, though. I didn't stop - I was kicked out." And fuck if there's not a hint of pride in his voice about it.
Remi amuses them both with the bizarre picture he's painting, and Ronin rubs at the stubble on his chin and raises his eyebrows up at him. "Oh, shit. You're straight for the cameras, huh?" He wrinkles his nose. "Well, I can assure you that there'll be no sitcom romancing here. It's all awkward, terrible conversation here."
