The messages were somewhat conflicting. She was not a child, and there were more agreements than rules. But she was not to repay debts of gratitude by herself, all while strangers and fanatics may or may not be coming for her in the name of hurting her parents. So... where exactly did that leave her? Confused, is where.
"No, I don't think I fully understand," she admitted, more honest than reassuring. But at least she was smiling again, and reached out to catch Ronin's hand in hers. "But I can be careful anyway. If I assume that any stranger might be a danger until proven otherwise, would that be a good start?" It was not in her nature to see enemies wherever she went. But if it helped put her father at ease, and prevented harm to her family, then she would try. It would seem that she now had more than one reason to train as a soldier, too.
Turning back towards the path they had been walking, Seren felt as though a great weight was lifting from her shoulders. None of these new worries compared to the stress of being at odds with her father, and now that everything was out in the open none of it seemed as bad as it had. "In an ideal world, how would you like things to be?" she asked as they walked, while keeping an eye out for the steam of erupting geysirs. "Between us, and in general?"
