How come silence is so loud in the shadows?

I wanna scream 'til it's on
No knife is gotcha'd. In fact, it seems as though she's the one that's been got. Almost as if someone had pushed her in, she falls. It's not a short trip, either, but a rushing plummet. The first things she feels are the cold and the pounding of her blood in her head.
She emerges with a loud splutter, gasping for air, but things don't feel right. They don't look right, either. Panic grips around her throat like the water swirling around it, her limbs thrashing fiercely to fight against this fucked up kind of gravity. She can't take too much time to wonder what the hell is going on.
Get out of the water first, ask questions later. The knife, therefore, has to be abandoned. But the treeline is distorted and she can't tell up from down, lost in the mist. With a reluctant, frustrated snarl, she kicks out for a single direction, hoping that if she goes far enough, she'll reach the shore eventually. Is this a good tactic? She has no fucking idea.
