Something brushes against the smuggler's legs. Seaweed? A bit of driftwood? The current, perhaps?

The voice is sweet, in the way an apple laced with arsenic would still be sweet.
The mist around thickens. It almost looks dense enough that she might reach out and use it to tug herself from the water, but no...it yields easily beneath her fingers; dissipating, but not enough that she might see the world around her any easier.
She swims and swims, though no shoreline presents itself. Has she gone the wrong way, or is there simply no shoreline to reach? Already the smuggler's limbs are growing stiff from the cold, and the surface of the water begins to solidify. She can break apart the thin crest of ice forming easily enough, but for now long?
