Oh he’s pleased as punch when the surprise cascades over her, when he ends up right behind her and they continue to sink down and down, peering through the dark as fish dance around, surprised someone has ventured this deep into their home. As Isla looks back at him, she’ll find that he’s smiling too, readjusting them a tiny bit so that his arms might slide around her middle so he can drag her deeper and deeper into the depths with him, while his body weight does most of the work. He’s quite content to lean into the kiss, arms tightening around her middle while he gives into it — no worry or fear in needing to breathe from these depths.
The fish might be too fast for Isla, but there’s a slower one she might be able to touch, hanging out on a rather large boulder, eating some algae that almost has the appearance of a shark but only the size of a hand, and below the boulder sits a vibrancy of shiny rocks, aged and weathered as sparkling opals of a sort. And through the darkness, there’s a slight zip of light — a dream fish perhaps or an illusion? Or something else entirely?
