I lie awake and wonder why I feel this way, so far away
He steps in, wraps her up tightly against his chest, his arms snaking around her to keep her close as her head tucks in against his neck. “Yeah.” He comments his quiet support, hand rising to cup the back of her head — however fleeting it is before she’s drawing back and he lets her, but he doesn’t go far. He stays near her as she closes the door and the expression on his face is almost a mix of regret paired with her sorrow.
“I did. I’m sorry I wasn’t here to help… I went to Halo for a few days.” The frown tugs at his face as he reaches up to run his metal hand through his hair, lips quirking into a deeper frown before he’s looking around the makeshift infirmary, until the blue of his gaze lands back on Isla. “Aside from everything… Are you okay? Can I help with anything?” What he wouldn’t give to be able to try and help her with whatever it was she needed, to try and make this easier for her.
