Even beneath the milky vagueness of her hurt, Hotaru is too well-versed in expressions to miss the hurt as it curls like smoke on Maeve's fair features. She can't feel it all the same, the guilt that may have surfaced hours before now. There is only the silence of a bond that should have been - whether that is Maeve's or Atlas' is beyond her. Only the bedrock of surety that she must do this remains.
