Isla will not be able to find Nate’s gaze when she looks up, focused as it is on the outdoors, scanning the horizon, the sky, the greenery. The paranoid spell is broken when his fellow doctor steps past him, Nate taking a breath and stepping outside. He looks around once more, then looks at Isla, a grin quirking his mouth. “If you really think you need my expertise, I can get you a day or so.” He brags, the effect ruined a little by the way his voice shivers.
