Upon my liar's chair

For a moment that's a flare of incredulity and anger that resounds in Remi's bones, but it's gone quickly, replaced by dry laughter. "You know, for someone you hate so much, you really do not know me well at all." He doesn't roll his eyes despite wanting to. Settling instead for letting a snarl twitch at his lips for a moment or two before wiping it away, Remi just gives his head a slight shake. "Though I suppose that makes us even, as I thought you might have had something to do with the fire at Isla's infirmary." He adds with a shrug that threatens to become something more petty.

Really, what should happen next, is that one of them should awkwardly excuse themselves—or perhaps say nothing at all—and they should fuck off in opposite directions before the situation escalates. Feeling this in the balls of his feet, Remi nonetheless remains, eyeing the way the light from the cigarette contrasts the blue of Nate's eyes and idly wondering how much of a hazard it was for an ascended to have something smouldering in their mouth.
