Like a barreling fiend with her knife extended, her arms began to wave and warble, striving to stop herself before –

The water stretched and loomed, even in the shadows, lurching at her. She skittered across the rocks, the floor, listening to the sound of the stones skipping over to walls or falling into the brink. Only right at the very edge, where the canal jutted through, did the youth manage to cease entirely, her wicked heart beating frantically; rabbit contortions. Leaning backwards, shuffling, shuffling, shuffling away, she couldn’t stop her hands from shaking. “Okay,” she sighed, panting for breaths she didn’t need. “I’ll admit that was stupid.”
