A small nod is given to Wessex – agreeing that perhaps both talking to them might get them to find a new place to stay, a place that’s safer for them. But when the topic turns to Nate and the Queen is visibly confused, Sunjata works his jaw quietly, trying to figure out where to start among the rest of everything.
So he steadies himself, takes a deep breath, lowers his arms back to his sides and meets Wessex’s gaze. “Nate hasn’t been dealing with everything very well. And with the Wren Society burned and the attack on the Slagveld and the Advocates, it’s just piled on. I… Made him Governor. Safrin reamed me for it.” He pauses, swallowing against the soreness of his throat. “Isla noticed how off he’s been so we thought it would be best to give him a break of all of the shit happening here.” He pauses to chew at his cheek.
“So we’ve planned to go at the change of the season to give him time to kind of process everything.” So many things had happened to them when it was supposed to be a good season. And now it’s just pressing on the cracks more and more – fracturing them and crumbling them.
