They pitch each other over the edge into bliss and fuck but it all but wipes Jack's mind blank. For a second it's just burning muscles and veins crackling with ecstasy and the panting of their combined breath. But everything has an end eventually, and this ends much, much too soon. His vision clears, his mind comes back to itself, and he's left in those strange few moments where it's not so bad, to be close to someone else, where he might collapse into the bed and wrap himself in the body next to him and doze.
Of course, it doesn't last, and that doesn't happen. Instead, with a deep breath that Jack rides out on a dark chuckle, he withdraws from Maeve and shifts to get off the bed. "Well, Madame. You are quite somethin'," he purrs through a voice made hoarse by their exertions, Jack crossing the room to grab the towel he'd discarded, cleaning himself up and buttoning his pants again.
