His speed surprised her, catching her still on the steps. But she happily buried her face in his chest, hugging him tight. Her face tilted up as words of concern and relief tumbled from his lips, brows furrowing. "You were doing important work for Safrin. I didn't want to bother you. Did I miss a message from you?" she asked, concerned she had somehow encouraged his own trepidation with a lack of responsiveness.
